Links Between Worlds

Here will be links to other blogs and articles that I find that I think deserve additional recognition and continue to provide a new and critical examination of games.

  • Digital Raconteur’s An Issue of Perspective– A similar post to my Point of View post, examining the effect of perspective on games.
  • Errant Signal’s Hotline Miami Critique- A video examining the meaning of Hotline Miami and how the gameplay helps push the game’s purpose.
  • Games as Literature’s Gears of War Analysis– The first in a series of videos examining thne narrative structure and literary merit of the Gears of War series, focusing on the first entry in this video.
  • EmceeProphIt’s Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess video- The first in a series of videos examining Twilight Princess, specifically looking at the theme of fear and how it is impressed on players.
  • Michael Shepard from the University of California’s Interactive Storytelling project- This multimodal academic paper, while apparently in an unfinished limbo, offers great explorations into the potential that games have in narrative entertainment. The presentation in multimodality is additionally interesting, and likely gives a glimpse at how academic papers will evolve.
